Some of you have asked that the older version of the tutorial with PHP 4.3.x be put back up. I am putting it back up, but will no longer update it. You can still find it at PHP 4 page. However, I strongly recommend using the PHP 5 tutorial below.
Installing Perl for CGI is completely optional and none of the other parts of this tutorial require it to be installed. The only reason to install ActivePerl is if you will be running Perl based CGI scripts.
The older MySQL 4.0 tutorial has been completely removed as of Jan 1, 2010. The official site no longer even has the 4.0 binaries available so there's no point in keeping the tutorial. Please use the MySQL 5.1 tutorial below instead.
Those of you interested in the Apache 2.0.X tutorial, it has been abandon and I will no longer keep it updated, but it can be found here.
Other software and programs that I've found help give a better user experience when using your server.
This tutorial is for MySQL 4.0 and if you want the MYSQL 5.1 tutorial you are at the wrong place.
The tutorial below is for Apache 2.0.x and as of January 2007, I will no longer keep it updated. The current version of the Apache tutorial can be found here.
